Melbourne recycling centre charged over missing machine guards - 17.9.18
A Coolaroo recycling centre is facing charges for allegedly removing guarding from a conveyor belt, leaving workers exposed to the risk of being crushed or entangled.
The company faces two charges for contraventions of section 21 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, for failing to maintain plant that was safe and without risks to health.
It will be alleged that guarding was removed from two areas of a conveyor belt, leaving nip points exposed and putting workers at risk of serious injury or death.
A filing hearing has been listed in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on October 8.
