Qld highlights arc flash dangers in new film - 4.4.22
The Queensland Electrical Safety Office has released a new film highlighting the dangers of arc flash. Arc flash incidents occur frequently in Queensland, with the state recording the highest rate of incidents in Australia. In the past 11 years, there have been 47 serious incidents and one death.
The film urges viewers not to rush to finish a job without asking or checking if the mains power has been turned off and the equipment isolated. The message is designed to be shared with friends, colleagues and staff, to keep everyone safe. The film reminds viewers that the best way to eliminate the risk of arc flash is to choose not to work live. If the work cannot be rescheduled to when the power is off, then electricians are advised to control the risks and follow safe work procedures.
